Maureen Lamb passed away peacefully on October 8, 2013 in the Creston Valley Hospital at the age of 76 years.


Maureen was born to parents Mary and Leif Broten on July 17, 1937 in Edmonton, AB, where she received her formal education. She married the love of her life, Alastair Lamb, on April 11, 1959 in Edmonton, AB.

Maureen was employed as a telephone operator in Edmonton, which is where she met Alastair. As a wife and mother, Maureen spent time in Drumheller and Labrador. In 1970, they settled in Creston, BC, running the Kozi Inn. She was always an antique lover and in 1976 she opened The Trading Post, an antique and secondhand shop.

Maureen spent some time as a member of the Erickson Ladies Auxiliary.

Maureen was predeceased by her parents Mary and Leif Broten; sister Anne Stephens and twin sister Doreen Tate.

She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband of 55 years, Alastair; daughter Kelly and grandson Brandon; son David (Helen); brother Philip Broten (Beverly); along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.


A Memorial Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at G. F. Oliver Funeral Chapel with Guy Roy celebrant.
