In Loving Memory ~ Maureen passed away peacefully in Bentley, AB on June 10, 2020 after a lengthy illness. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who loved the Lord.
Maureen was born to Gunnar and Peggy Nelson in Creston, BC on June 20, 1942 and attended Canyon Elementary School along with her cousins and her sister Marion. She graduated from Prince Charles High School where she met the love of her life, Allan Ellard and they married in 1960.
During their marriage Allan and Maureen travelled for work throughout BC and Alberta and had four sons along the way. Maureen was a very loving mother and brought up her sons in the ways of the Lord.
With their children raised they settled in Bentley, AB where Maureen and her sister Marion started a successful ceramics business that they ran for the next twenty years. Maureen loved nothing more than travelling, whether car trips to western Canada and the United States or vacations to Mexico. She loved meeting people and experiencing different cultures and food.
Maureen was predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law Alex. She leaves behind Allan, her husband of 60 years, sister Marion, sons Hugh (Sherry), Grant (Lana), Jim (Laurie) and Cameron and grandchildren Cory, Shawn, Tyler, and Madison.
She will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins and many wonderful friends.
There will be an interment at the family plot at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Erickson, BC in 2022 once Covid restrictions have been removed.
