Mary Tarzwell

November 8, 1927 ~ August 31, 2013

Mary Tarzwell, 85 years old, passed away on August 31, 2013 in the Creston Hospital surrounded by loving family.

Mary was born in Erin township, Ontario and moved “out west” with her husband Paul (deceased) and three children (Pat, Bob, and Judy). While living in Alberta, and later in British Columbia, her family grew by five (Ed, John (deceased), Harvey, Tom, and Gordon). At the time of her death Mary is survived by her sister Nancy Sinclair, 7 children, 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mary worked in the home and on the farm all of her life but she also delivered mail for Canada Post in Wynndel for many years. She loved to be outdoors whether that involved tending the vegetable garden, camping, or working on the farm. Mary’s health began to fail in the early nineties and her health continued to fail slowly but steadily for two decades. Even after taking up residence in the nursing home, Mary still liked to be outdoors; for many years, as long as she was able, Mary was a well known fixture as she walked daily on the streets of Creston.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers of the two retirement homes, Pioneer Villa and Swan Valley, where Mary spent many years, for their dutiful care and for the care beyond ‘dutiful’.
