Marjorie Lanigan died peacefully in Victoria, British Columbia on Thursday, June 30 2016.


Marj was born in Edmonton and spent her early years working for Fish and Wildlife in Alberta before moving to Creston in 1973 where she and her husband Ron opened an arts and crafts store on Canyon Street. Marj would later split her time between the candle factory and as a marriage commissioner for the Valley before suffering a stroke in 1996. She spent ten years at Swan Valley Lodge before moving to Victoria in 2006 (the same year Ron died after 48 years of marriage). Marj volunteered over the years in Creston with Kinettes, junior golf, the high school band program and the creation of a crisis call line in Creston.

She will be remembered for her kindness and warm smile and as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son Troy and three grandchildren: Christina, Matthew and Zachary all of Victoria, BC.

The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at Swan Valley Lodge for the outstanding care she received over ten years.
