Marie Sylvia Tompkins

Marie Tompkins (nee Johnson) passed away on December 9, 2011 in the Swan Valley Lodge at the age of 95 years.
Marie was born to parents Sven and Faltine Johnson on April 27, 1916 in Strongfield, SK. Together, the family moved to Canyon, BC in 1937 and later they moved to Erickson, BC, near Brennan’s Garage. Marie married Kenneth Tompkins in 1942 and they made Erickson their home.
Marie loved life and was a very caring, giving person. She was a proud member of the Erickson Covenant Church for over 70 years and made many special friendships with the congregation.
Marie was predeceased by her parents, Sven and Faltine Johnson; husband Kenneth; brothers Jonas and Harold Johnson and grandson Marc Legare.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter Lavonne (Gerry) Legare; sons Allan (Linda) and Mark (Rowena); grandchildren Michelle, Kaela, Ashley, Jodi and Derek and great-grandchild Tyler Legare.
A Celebration of Life Funeral Service was held Wednesday December 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Erickson Covenant Church with Pastor Tom Greentree officiating.
Marie will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She especially enjoyed the Christmas season and the spirit of giving at this special time of year. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, a gift of charity which benefits many people could be given to Swan Valley Lodge - Equipment Fund, Box 1880 Creston, BC, V0B 1G0.
