July 18, 1926 - June 17, 2021
With sadness we announce the passing of Marie (Lina) Magrum. She passed away in the Creston Valley Hospital on June 17th, 2021, just shy of her 95th birthday.
Lina was born in Chauvin, Alberta on July 18, 1926. She grew up there as the second oldest of 7 children, helped around the house, on the farm and went to the town school as well.
After graduating high school, she left Chauvin and later met and married Daniel Magrum in Edmonton on March 11, 1950. Now an army wife, she moved with her husband to a base in Ontario.
Lina gave birth to her first son, David, in Pembroke, Ontario. Lina and Dan moved back to Edmonton a few years later where she gave birth to her second son Michael. The following year, Lina, Dan and their two sons moved to Calgary.
Her husband retired from the Army in 1967 and they settled into family life for the next 25 years where Lina was a loving mother and wife.
Dan passed away from cancer in 1992. After a few years Lina began to live her second life as a widower where she enjoyed travelling with her sister Eva. She was very active with the greater Forest Lawn Senior Center for 10 years. Lina very much enjoyed her rescue cats, having four adult cats over the course of the next 22 years.
Lina moved to Nikkyl Place in Creston in the spring of 2016 to be closer to her son David who had moved there 5 years previously. In Creston she enjoyed the milder weather and quieter small-town lifestyle. She would walk every day and enjoyed the beautiful Creston Valley.
Lina was loved by everyone who met her. She was a kind, caring and energetic woman who loved family and all animals. She was deeply loved by her two sons David and Michael, their spouses, and families. She will be greatly missed.
