Marie was predeceased by her parents William & Antonia Greene, and son Toby Douma.
Marie was born in Smithers, BC on January 31, 1945. Marie spent her childhood on the family farm in Quick BC where she like her father loved farm life and the animals. Marie also had a sense of humor by teasing the prize bull into kicking his way out of the corral.
After college, Marie worked in Smithers at the local grocery store where she worked in the meat department.
Marie then met Dick in Smithers and later married in Haney, BC. They moved to Creston in 1967, Where they operated Willann Farms Dairy until 1979. Following the dairy, they operated a meat operation Triple "D" Meats.
Marie's passion was cooking for family and friends. Marie was envied by many as she prepared her meals. The family started The Heights Restaurant and catered on and off-site in the community. Later, Marie also filled a food services position at Swan Valley Lodge.
Marie was also very athletic playing fastball in her younger years. Marie was a competitive bowler, golfer, and curler. The trophy shelf the boys had to dust monthly indicated Marie's abilities.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Swan Valley Lodge for their care and compassion during Marie's stay there.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date. The family would ask that any donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society of BC.
