Mable Moore

August 28, 1932 ~ February 11, 2014

Mable Moore of Creston, BC passed away of natural causes on February 11, 2014, at 82 years of age.

Mable was born in Creston on August 28, 1932. It was also in Creston where she was educated. She began working at the young age of 16 in Nelson, BC at a match factory, chopping blocks of wood to make wooden matches. Mable worked many jobs throughout her lifetime.

She met and married Albert (Bert) Floyd Moore and they moved to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. It wasn’t long before they moved back to the Kootenays, as Mable dearly missed her family and the mountains. After being married for some time they realized they were not going to be blessed with children, so they were very lucky to be able to choose the children they wanted to share their love with. Their daughter Nikki arrived in 1964, followed by a baby boy Bill in 1966 to complete the family.

Mable loved to knit and crochet. She made crocheted blankets for many of her nieces’ and nephews’ children as well as for her two grandchildren. Mable also knitted dish cloths for everyone. It wasn’t Christmas without getting her homemade dish cloths. Mable loved to fish and camp and spend time with her many nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed gardening and sharing the produce of her garden.

Mable was predeceased by her husband Bert, and dear friend Don Pears, her sisters Lillian Pendry, and Irene Blackmore brothers George, Harold, Don, and Kenny Osborne, and parents Harold and Bertha May Osborne.

Mable is survived by her brother Virgil (Bill) Osborne; daughter Nikki (Carl) Olsson; son Bill; grandchildren Kimberly and Kristoffer Olsson, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A Memorial Funeral Service was held at GF Oliver Funeral Chapel on Monday February 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Guy Roy Celebrant.
