Lorne Carston passed away peacefully on April 4, 2012 after a short illness in Creston, BC at the age of 78 years.

Lorne was born on January 10, 1934 to parents Edna and Fred Carston in Druid, SK.

Lorne spent three years in the air force at Cold Lake, AB and then he fired on steam engines in Cranbrook, BC. He came to Creston, BC in 1956 to work for BC Tel and retired after 37 years. Here Lorne met and married the love of his life, Helen Boffey on July 21, 1962.

Lorne was a member of the Creston Curling Club, the Rod and Gun Club and President of the Golf Club. He loved almost anything outdoors including: fishing, hunting, skiing, camping, cutting wood, biking, hiking and long walks with his wife. Some of his favourite pastimes were wood working, intarsia, making toys for his grandchildren and bread making.

Lorne was predeceased by his parents Edna and Fred Carston along with his brothers Carl and Bill.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 50 years, Helen; son Kirk (Lori); daughter Heather (Luis); grandchildren Ally, Danelle, Dallas, Ben and Sanni; sister Dot Creighton of Penticton, BC; brother Pat of Vancouver, BC and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Funeral Service was held on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at 11:00 am in the G. F. Oliver Funeral Chapel with Pastor Harry Haberstock officiating.
