May 22, 1950 - October 20, 2021
In Loving Memory ~ It is with great sadness that we announce, Kenneth (Ken) Peter Wood passed away on October 20, 2021, at Trail, BC at the age of 71 years.
Ken was born on May 22, 1950, in Creston, BC to parents Eileen and Ronald Wood. Ken was an accomplished curler, enjoyed golf, fishing, and tinkering on projects in his garage. Ken took pride in teaching all his grandsons how to fish and made sure to document the moment they all got their big catch.
He also might have been one of the only Papa's in the world who took pride in mastering how to braid his granddaughter's hair. He worked at the Columbia Brewery for 41 years as a millwright and a maintenance supervisor.
Ken was a seasoned carpenter and built many houses for his family. There was never something Ken couldn't fix. His family uses the quote "if Papa can't fix it, we're screwed."
10 years ago Ken received a life changing heart transplant that gave him 10 extra years with his family. He was able to see each of his grandchildren graduate and build 10 more years of memories with his wife and children. Ken was a loving husband, a dedicated father, and the world's best Papa.
Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Irene Wood, daughter Nicole (Michael), son Craig (Lisa), grandchildren Larissa and Jordan Wood, grandsons Ethan, Kale and Trey Plotnikoff, mother Eileen Wood, three sisters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Private Family Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Ken and his family wish for donations to be made to the Heart Transplant Home Society, 1773 33rd Ave E, Vancouver, BC V5N 3E3, and if possible, please register to become an organ donor.
