October 3, 1941 - April 18, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Joyce McNiven announces her passing on April 18, 2020 in Creston, BC at the age of 78. Joyce was born in Lethbridge AB to parents Willa and Clarence Hollihan. She grew up on the family farm in Warner AB with her siblings Dale, Karen and Betty.
In 1962 the family moved to Creston and purchased the Alberta Motel (Presently the Mountain View Inn). They always joked that they had left the farm that had no flush toilet and ended up with 13.... to clean. In 1966 Joyce married Edwin McNiven. They owned and operated The Wynndel store until
the early 70's and their daughter Wendy was born in 1971. Joyce was a sweetheart, selfless, and was hard working. Always employed, she retired from the Creston Valley hospital housekeeping dept in 2002 after many years where she enjoyed and appreciated working with friends and co-workers. During her retirement she enjoyed some travel, everything about Creston and kept busy helping with her daughter Wendy and Evan's Nursery business. She spent many cherished moments with her granddaughters Brynn and Siobhan as she watched them grow. Joyce was predeceased by her older brother Dale. The family would like to thank the staff of Swan Valley Lodge for their compassion and excellent care over the past four years. A private family service will be held at a later date. Family and friends who wish to make a memorial contribution may do so in Joyce's name to Swan Valley Lodge, any dept, Bag 3000 Creston BC, V0B 1G4.
