November 25, 1936 - January 13, 1999
In Loving Memory ~
Joyce Marie Semeniuk (nee McClennan) passed away on January 13, 2022, in Creston, BC, at the age of 85 years.
Joyce was born on November 25, 1936, in Unity, SK. Shortly thereafter, she emigrated with her parents to British Columbia to find employment during the Depression.
They ended up settling in Creston and that was where Joyce was raised and schooled. After working for a couple of years after graduation from high school, she married Nick, Semeniuk, in 1957. Together they lived for a short time in Creston's goat river bottom, before moving to Oklahoma to further Nick's education in Civil Engineering.
Upon Nick's graduation, they moved to New Jersey with their two children, Steve and Pennie. In Hightstown, NJ, they completed their family with their third child, Joe. Joyce lived in New Jersey for the next couple of decades, raising her family, except for a short stint in the Phillipines.
Once her family had grown up, and finding herself on her own, she moved back west to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho where she continued to work as a stenographer for a few years. She then retired to Creston to spend the rest of her life, in the place she most wanted to be, among her many friends and acquaintances.
For many years, Joyce's main purpose in life, and what brought her so much satisfaction, was to share her time and talents to benefit others. Handmade Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, greeting cards, fabric gift bags, and "Grab Bags", were a few of the things she made and donated to non-profit organizations. The Tuck Shop, Krafty Kronies, TAPS, and Trinity Treasures were some of the groups she supported.
When she wasn't busy crafting, she was helping with lunch programs at Trinity United and Holy Cross Catholic churches. Joyce gave without the need for recognition or thanks. She gave, because for her, it was the right thing to do. Anyone who has been a recipient of Joyce's generosity will always miss her and will be a better person for having known her.
Joyce was a kind and loving soul, and one of the nicest people you could care to meet.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband Nick Semeniuk in 2018.
She will be sorely missed by her daughter Pennie, sons Steve and Joe, younger brother Jim McClennan, grandchildren Alexis Pruitt, Joshua, and Nicholas, as well as her great grandson Jett Pruitt.
At Joyce's request, no Funeral Service to be held.
Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to the charity of their choice.
