Joyce Doreen Spink
1932 ~ 2016
Joyce Spink passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the age of 84.
Joyce was born and raised in Calgary and went to school in Ogden. She worked in Calgary for the Calgary Credit Union and CHQR. Joyce and Al retired early to B.C., first to Tappen and then settled in the community of Wynndel. Joyce was an active volunteer with the Wynndel Community Centre and was generous with her time, talent and baking, always willing to lend a hand at community teas and social gatherings. Joyce was active in retirement and enriched the communities she lived in.
Joyce was a talented craftswoman skilled at sewing, quilting, knitting, drawing and painting. When Al took up bird carving, Joyce would spend hours detailing and painting the carvings. Joyce also loved music. She played piano and organ and when she retired Joyce learned to play the dobro and autoharp. Joyce was a supporter of the Wynndel Coffee House and a member of the Wynnets ladies' singing group. She also helped start the afternoon music and singalong group at Crest View Village when she moved into her apartment. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Alan Spink, and her two brothers Geoffrey (Madeline) Chalmers and Eric (Noreen) Chalmers.
Joyce is survived by daughters Denise (Hans), Kim (Kevin); son Mark (Jacqueline) and their two children Alex and Matthew; sister-in-law Doris Donaldson and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Crest View Village in Creston for their kindness, support and care of Joyce.
