Josephine Bucsek

September 4, 1941 ~ March 9, 2011

Josephine Bucsek passed away at the age of 69 years on March 9, 2011. With both her family and her medical family at her side, Jo passed comfortably and quickly after a short battle with cancer.

Born on September 4, 1941 on the family farm in Quinton Saskatchewan, to Pius and Martha Nagy, Jo moved with her mother to Creston in 1956 after her father was fatally injured in a logging accident in Yahk, BC. Jo graduated from Prince Charles High School in 1959.

She moved from Creston and graduated from Yorkton Union Hospital in 1962 with her Nursing degree, returned to Creston in 1964, and began her employ with Creston Valley Hospital where she nursed in one capacity or another, from full time to relief-on-call for the past 47 years, returning as a casual RN after her retirement in 2006.

In her earlier years Jo enjoyed spending time with family, camping, and boating on Kootenay lake, but what she most enjoyed was watching her daughter and adopted granddaughters grow up.

Jo was predeceased by her father Pius John Nagy in 1956, her mother Martha (Kerestes) Nagy in 1999, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by daughter Karla of Kelowna, BC, granddaughters Kathleen and Tsarina Posnikoff of Cranbrook, BC and several aunts, uncles, and cousins in Creston, the Kootenays, and Saskatchewan.

As per her wishes, a private family interment of ashes will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery later this spring.

Friends and family wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to the Creston Valley Hospital - Pediatric Ward.

Medical colleagues wishing to sign her journal of condolences and pick up memorial cards may do so beginning March 19 until the end of the month in the Nurses' Lounge at Creston Valley Hospital.
