John was born in Edmonton, Middlesex, England to George and Winnifred Daniels. John had three brothers and two sisters.
John came to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1959 as a farmhand. He met his wife Mabel through the family he worked for. John and Mabel were married October 21, 1960. They had five children: Susan (Don) Jones, Jeff Daniels, Roxann Daniels, Kimball (Karen) Daniels, and Tamara (Lloyd) Luck; four granddaughters: Katherine (Nathan) Getchel, Lindsay Jones, Elizabeth Daniels and Isabel Luck, plus three great- grandchildren: Ethan, Jaxon and Ellie Getchel.
