Joan Louie of Creston, BC, born on May 31, 1952, passed away on January 29, 2020 after a brief illness at the Creston Valley hospital. She was 67 years old.
Joan spoke the Kootenay native language fluently, and she was also adept at building the ancient Kootenay canoe. She was known for her love of animals and witty sense of humour.
Joan was predeceased by her mother Isabel Louie and father Lazarus Louie, and sisters Mary Irene, Florine, Christine and brothers Adrian and Wayne.
She is survived by her brother Robert Louie, Sr, sister Carol Louie, and beloved daughter Shannon.
Her numerous nephews and nieces, as well as the Lower Kootenay Band will miss her.
