June 14, 1917 ~ July 24, 2010

Jessie Isabel Davis (nee Ross/Ellard) passed peacefully on July 24, 2010 at the age of 93 surrounded by loved ones.

Jessie was born on the homestead in Estevan, Sask. on June 14, 1917, first child of Lester and Nellie Ross. She attended Business School at Estevan Collegiate Institute before meeting and marrying Hugh Ellard on June 18, 1941. During the war Hugh and Jessie lived in Ontario then, in 1945, they moved to Creston, BC where they established a logging company. Tragically, in 1956, Hugh drowned in Kootenay Lake. Jessie worked for the School District of Creston as a bookkeeper and raised her children there. Jessie married Les Davis in 1968 and spent the next 25 years in Castlegar.

In 1993 Jessie moved to Langley to be near her two daughters and her grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed travelling and visiting with her family.

Jessie was predeceased by her father (Lester) and her mother (Nellie), her husband, Hugh Ellard and her brother, Bill Ross.

Jessie is survived by her son Allan Ellard (Maureen), daughters Isabel (Frank Waddell) and Lynn (Trevor Redfern), 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her three brothers Cyril (Helen), Donald (Lillian) and Creighton (Hester).

Jessie will be remembered by all who knew her for her kindness and generosity. She will live forever in our hearts. Mom and Grandma, we will miss you.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff at Langley Lodge.
