Oct 28, 1928 - Apr 18, 2018
Jean Isabelle Thompson passed away with her family surrounding her on April 18, 2018 in Creston BC at the age of 89 years.

Jean was born in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan on October 28,1928 to Neil and Elveny MacMillan. She attended the Tiger Hills School until moving with her family to Calgary where she completed her education at Garbutt Business College.

Jean married Floyd Thompson on February 26, 1949 and they raised a family of six children; Tim, Terry, Cheryle, Sharon, Kevin and Matthew. While raising these children, Jean also worked at the Baker Memorial TB Sanitorium until it closed and then was employed at the Associated Clinic in downtown Calgary.

In 1968 Floyd and Jean decided to make the big move from Calgary to Wynndel to enjoy all of the natural beauty BC had to offer. Jean started working at Creston's Family Practice Associated Medical Clinic and retired after 25 years, in 1995. She took great pride in her job and instilled a strong work ethic in all of her children.

Jean loved her family immensely and devoted her time to ensuring that everyone was always looked after no matter what was needed. Early morning baking, sewing, helping with homework, filling her house with love and laughter. Her fondest memories were her marriage to Floyd and the births of her children and grandchildren. When asked what was the most important thing in her life she said "Family."

Jean's family grew quickly as friends of her children soon were calling her Mom, knowing they were always welcome in her home. Her engaging smile and warm hospitality will always be remembered. She loved gardening, crosswords, reading and watching her Blue Jays, Calgary Flames and the Saskatchewan Roughriders as well as curling events.

Jean had a rock solid faith in God and was a lifelong Presbyterian and was an active member in St Stephens church until she was unable to attend due to failing health.

Jean was predeceased by her parents Neil and Elveny MacMillan; brothers Donald and Gordon; sisters Laura Hughes and Hazel Ferguson; as well as her husband of 57 years, Floyd Thompson; daughter-in-law Sherry; and son-in-law Danny Barnsdale.

She is survived by sons Tim (Carol) of Creston, Terry (Deb) of Cranbrook, Kevin (Ildiko) of Wynndel, Matthew (Gail) of Lakeview; daughters Cheryle (Bob) Persson of Sundre and Sharon Barnsdale of Grande Prairie. Jean also had twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
