Jean Cecelia Paulhus passed away after a lengthy illness on June 28, 2013 at the age of 79 years, at the Swan Valley Lodge, Creston, BC.

Jean was born to parents Antoinette and Joseph Coton on December 13, 1933 in Drumheller, AB.

Jean was raised with her three sisters on Vancouver Island where her father worked in the coal mines. As a teenager, she adventured to Vancouver and Ontario, returning to Vancouver to continue working.

She met and married Norman Paulhus and moved to Riondel in 1957. With the exception of the last year, Jean called Riondel/Crawford Bay her home for fifty-five years, which she shared with John Blondeau for over twenty-five of those years.

Jean loved curling, camping, dancing and enjoyed gatherings of friends and family.


Jean was predeceased by her son, Michael Paulhus.

She will be lovingly remembered by her partner John Blondeau; children Shelley (Ken), Wayne and David; step-children John, Dan (Lorette), Cathy, Shelly (Paddy) and Cindy (Ken); twenty grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.


A Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date.
