August 5, 1966 - April 3, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jay, at the age of 56 on April 3rd, 2023, in Creston, B.C. He will be greatly missed by his son Derek, mother Mary, siblings: Georgette (Danny), Linda (Ken), Tim (Bev), and Vicki (Elio), numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his stepchildren: Rylee, Jenna, and Brendan, along with his beloved dog Lacey, and many great friends. He is predeceased by his father George in 2016.
Jay was born on August 5, 1966, in Rossland, B.C., and raised in Warfield and Trail. He spent many hours playing with cars, playing street hockey and baseball, dirt biking, exploring the mountains, and building go-carts and treehouses. He played soccer with the Warfield Wizards, baseball with the Trail Orioles, and hockey with the Trail Jr. Smoke Eaters. He graduated from JL Crowe High School and went on to obtain his Journeyman Millwright Certificate. He worked in Terrace and Williams Lake, B.C., at Trafalgar Mines and finally settled in Creston, B.C., working at the Columbia Brewery Company.
He enjoyed all outdoor activities, working in his boxed gardens, making soup (which he shared with friends and family), going to the lake, golfing, restoring his truck, and spending time with family and friends. There wasn't anything Jay couldn't fix, and he was always willing to help anyone who needed it.
Special thanks to Todd and Carolyn Hawton and GF Oliver Funeral Chapel in Creston, B.C.
