Janette Peterson

October 1, 1955 ~ February 23, 2014

Janette Lore Maureen Laub was born on October 1, 1955 at the Royal Albert Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. She was the eldest of four children. Her family lived in Drayton Valley, Alberta, before settling in Creston Valley in 1964.

She attended Erickson and Creston Valley Elementary schools and Prince Charles Secondary School. An outstanding student, she graduated with honors from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree.

“Jana,” as she preferred to be called, married Alan Peterson on May 25, 1982 and they had a daughter, Lisa Michelle Peterson. Lisa’s daughter Kyra Lea Peterson was Jana’s only grandchild, whom she loved dearly.

Jana enjoyed skiing and swimming, and spent many happy summer days at the river with her family. Jana had a special way with animals and was very attached to her pet cats and dogs, as well as the pets of others.

Jana loved the Lord and singing hymns and prayed faithfully for her friends and family. Generous to a fault, Jana gave freely of her time and possessions to those in need.

Jana will be dearly missed by her parents, Wanda and Bruno Laub of Creston; daughter Lisa and granddaughter Kyra of Edmonton, Alberta; sister Charmaine (Richard) Mark, nephews Matthew and Ryan and niece Loriann of Malibu, California; brother Mark (Brenda) of Creston; sister Michelle (Matt), nephews Chris, Eric, Andrew, and niece Laura of Spokane, Washington; and by her friends.

A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Creston Baptist Church with Pastors Rick Bettig and Lucas Branstetter officiating.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in memory of Jana may do so to the Creston Valley Gleaners Food Bank, 807 Canyon St., Creston, BC.
