Janet Lorraine Banman, resident of Kingsgate, passed away on September 13, 2012 in the Creston Valley at the age of 56 years, from complications of ovarian cancer after two and a half years of enduring countless failed treatments.

Janet was born to parents Lily and Arthur Sauder on December 15, 1955 in Swift Current SK. She was raised on a farm near Swift Current SK. Janet went on to own and operate the Lucky Lake Hotel, before moving with her young family to the property in Kingsgate, BC. Operating a number of businesses over the years, she became an invaluable employee with Canada Customs where she worked for the last seventeen years. Janet was married to Shane Brown on July 16, 2011.

Janet was a devoted mother, a loving wife, and an amazing woman, always there for her friends and family. Animals were a beloved part of the family; whether walking in the woods gathering wild herbs or in the garden, her dog and the cats were always at her side. Her compassionate heart and love for nature lead her to herbalism, where she helped many people overcome their health problems. Janet's gentle and calm spirit left a lasting impression on many people and her genuine kindness will be remembered and missed by all.

Janet was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Lily Sauder.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Shane Brown; daughter Brandy Banman (Steve Dube); sister Sheila Grainger (Jeff); nephews Chris Grainger (Ang) and Nick Grainger (Krista Wilson).
