July 20, 1941 - December 26, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim. He slipped away peacefully at home on December 26, 2018 in Creston BC, surrounded by family.

Jim was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, the ninth in a family of ten. He married Wilma Nicol in 1962 and during the next four years they welcomed two sons and a daughter into their lives. Jim made a living as a welder, eventually establishing his own business building farm equipment. He always had a vision of moving to Canada so in the spring of 1978, the family emigrated, settling in Creston, BC where his brother Alastair lived. He once again started his own business, this time in ornamental iron work. In 1987, Jim and Wilma relocated to Devon, Alberta for a period of time. While there, Jim found employment with a manufactured home company. This job gave him the opportunity to travel to Poland and Indiana, something the adventurous side of him thoroughly enjoyed. In 1994, he and Wilma returned to Creston where Jim resumed his work with ornamental iron work until his retirement in 2011.

Jim was a kind and generous man who liked the simple things in life. He thrived on chatting with people he would meet while out walking and he also enjoyed sitting at Centennial Park reading or watching the world go by. At home, he loved spending time puttering in the garden or watching the birds feed. Jim loved dogs and got great pleasure out of the many he and Wilma owned over the years. His knowledge and creativity never ceased to amaze, he was game to tackle any project and always ready to lend a hand if needed.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and his son, Derek.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wilma, son Colin (Lyndsay), daughter Lorraine (Marcel), five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers and two sisters and their families.

Jim kept his good Scottish sense of humour and his amazing positive attitude right up till the end. Words can't express how much he will be missed. Till we meet again.

Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to PAWS, 2805 Lower Wynndel Road, Creston BC VOB 1G8
