Oct 13, 1933 - Apr 27, 2018
Ivan Fredrick Josephson was born in Rose Valley Saskatchewan on October 13, 1933 to parents Inga and Peter Josephson. Ivan's formative years were spent on a farm where he enjoyed a farm boy's life with his older sister and brother, Julia and Arnold. But as he grew older, Ivan enjoyed working with numbers more than he did working with cows and horses.

Ivan completed his Chartered Accounting Degree in Calgary in 1958 while articling with accounting firm Deloitte, Plender, Haskins & Sells. However, the Deloitte office in Calgary didn't have a position for him once he completed his degree and offered to transfer him to a different city. Ivan was ready for an adventure and thought it would be fun to work in a sunnier climate. He was thinking Hawaii but instead they offered him Caracas, Venezuela and so he spent twenty-two years working in South America where he eventually ended up managing the Deloitte offices in Medellin, Columbia and Caracas, Venezuela. Ivan's South American adventure came to an end in 1981 when he relocated his family to Toronto after finding the political climate overly volatile in Venezuela.

Ivan moved to Creston in 2002 to spend his latter retirement years. There he rediscovered his love of music while playing mandolin with his brother Arnold. They spent many enjoyable hours playing numerous musical instruments and singing together. His service as volunteer and treasurer for the Creston Valley Hospice Society and his participation in the TAPS program were important parts of his life in his final years.

Ivan died peacefully on April 27, 2018 at Swan Valley Lodge. He is survived by his daughter Patricia (Mark), grandsons Jordan and Kyle, son Lyn-Peter, and his sister-in-law, Benita.
