Ingrid Lillebrand Hanneman

November 28, 1927 ~ July 31, 2011

Ingrid went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday morning, July 31, 2011 at the age of 83, at the Centennial Centre, Ponoka, Alberta.

She was born Inge Hildebrandt Hansen on November 28, 1927 in Fakse, Denmark. Being the youngest of six children at just six months old, she immigrated with her family from Denmark to Canada in 1928. She grew up on her father's farm near Endiang, Alberta.

On December 1, 1954, she was married to Woodrow Willard Hanneman of Carstairs, Alberta. They spent the next 20 years raising their family of three children and farming west of Olds, Alberta. In 1974 they semi-retired to Creston B.C. Ingrid moved back to Alberta in 2007 in order to be near family.

Mom loved to garden in a "big" way, and put up large amounts of preserves. Many hours were spent in this endeavour. Mom spent much of her spare time browsing the local flea market and garage sales; an auction sale was a special treat. And, a great game (or 3 or 4) of Aggravation with friends was her delight. Her strong faith in God sustained her through the many challenges of life. Forever, she will remain in our hearts. You are now home at last, Mom.

Ingrid is predeceased by her parents, Andreas and Marie Hansen; sister Emmy Shand; brother Jens Hansen; grandson Robert Phelps; as well as her husband, Woodrow Hanneman.

She is survived by two sisters; Meta Davidsen of Victoria, BC and Elsie Falkingham of Sardis, BC; one brother Herluf Hansen of Stettler Alberta; son Phil Hannemann of Edmonton, Alberta; and two daughters, Esther (Jeff) Alcorn of Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia and Linda Phelps of Lacombe, Alberta; and fourteen grandchildren, Claire and Nathan Hannemann; Benjamin, Melanie and Jordan Alcorn; Douglas, Stephen, Candace, Clinton, Lincoln, Tabitha, Winston, Nicolas, and Victoria Phelps.
