Henry Jean Gay passed away peacefully on June 6, 2014 at the Swan Valley Lodge in Creston, BC at the age of 91 years.


Henry was born to parents Georgette and Camille on March 10, 1923 in Moose Jaw, SK. Henry married the love of his life, Josephine, in May of 1950 in Nelson, BC

Following five years with the Royal Canadian Air Force, Henry began a career as a butcher, initially in Nelson then moving to Creston. His final career was a life insurance agent, working throughout the East Kootenays from a home-based office.

Henry was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Creston Military Reserve and the Creston Volunteer Ambulance.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, assisting at church fundraisers and work parties, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Henry was predeceased by his wife, Josephine and parents Georgette and Camille Gay.

He will be lovingly remembered by his two sons Robert (Kandy) of Cranbrook, BC and Dennis (Jeab) of Penticton, BC and grandchildren Carley Hughes and Matthew Gay of Fernie, BC and Natthaphon of Penticton, BC.


A Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church with father Tom Kakkaniyil celebrant. A luncheon followed the service at Holy Cross Catholic Church Hall.
