In loving memory ~
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce Harold Andrew Floer peacefully passed away at the age of 97 years on November 2, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Harold was born on June 20, 1925, in Bergfield, Saskatchewan to parents Andrew and Pearl Floer.
At a young age, along with his family, he moved to the Creston Valley where he attended school.
He returned to Saskatchewan during the war to farm and harvest for the Soldiers of the Soil war effort. He chose his future wife Veronica at a dance hall, she was the best looking gal and, coincidentally, she was also the best dancer on the floor. They married on October 16, 1947, in Minton, Saskatchewan, where they farmed for several years before returning to Creston for the remainder of their lives. They recently celebrated their 75th wedding Anniversary.
Dad had a few different jobs before his long career with the Department of Highways. He retired at the young age of 60 to a career of golfing, gardening, winemaking and dancing. He was always known to pack a lunch to go to "work" golfing where he accomplished the amazing feat of NINE holes-in-one all at the Creston Golf Course.
Dad was the oldest Charter member of the Creston Knights of Columbus and was influential in the initiation of the Creston-Cranbrook Knights of Columbus curling bonspiel.
Along with being an incredible husband, Dad was an admirable patriarch and very influential in the lives of his children and grandchildren with an amazingly sharp mind and unprecedented sense of humour! He was always kind and extremely generous to everyone.
Harold is lovingly survived by his wife of 75 years, Veronica, his children Val (Dusty), Bryan (Jane), Cindy (Dwight), Sherryl (Darrell), grandchildren Jacey, Lise, Pam, Christina, Katy, Ryan, Noel, Elizabeth, Tristan and Trey, as well as their partners and ten great-grandchildren, sister Helen Floer Johnson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank doctors Atma and Karen Persad; Dr. Barry Oberleitner; nurses Cindy; Carol; David Kraft; Tracy Ross and all the Care Aides at Interior Health; the management and staff at Swan Valley Lodge; Interior Health Palliative Care Program; the management and staff at CrestView; and a special thank you to Nancy and Sara for the exceptional care and kindness.
A Funeral Service will be held at a later date.

When we were young, my love and I
Our dancing days went dancing by.
So quickly did they hurry past - that we
Imagined they would last - forever more:
But suddenly - the music stopped for you
And me, whirling around that lighted hall.
The last waltz was the last of all.
And even now - that melody -
Has the power to quicken memory
And stir life's ash into a blaze
Remembering our dancing days.
