Gwen Nikish
October, 1919 ~ May, 2016
A life well lived. At the age of 96 Mom slipped away peacefully on the afternoon of May 5. She is now in the arms of her Lord and at peace.
Gwen was predeceased by her parents, two brothers, and two husbands, Rev. Eric Beech (1918 - 1969) and John Nikish (1915 – 2003).
She is survived by her six children, Joanne Hallborg, Marlene Wray, Wendy Fischer (Bill), Doug Beech (Jenny), David Beech (Theresa), and Alan Beech (Maria); sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and special friends Dick and Vera Staples.
Always a loving mother, wife and grandmother Gwen was active in her church and volunteer activities, forever available to support others. She was a true lady, her faith a quiet strength. Her actions, words and life reflected her beliefs.
Thank you to the staff of Legion Manor, Beacon Services and Saanich Peninsula Hospital who provided loving assistance to our mother in her later years.
A Celebration of Gwen’s life will be held at 2 pm, June 11, 2016 at Shady Creek United Church 7180 East Saanich Road, Saanichton, BC.
