Gordon Joseph Lansing

June 1, 1930 ~ June 24, 2010


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Joseph Lansing on June 24, 2010 after a lengthy illness in Creston, BC at the age of 80 years.


Gordon was born on June 1, 1930 in Daysland, AB to parents Louisa & Lawrence Lansing and received his formal education in Viking, AB. He married the love of his life Andree Douville on July 6, 1957. Gordon was a member of many clubs and associations, among those being: lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Creston Rod & Gun Club, was on the board of the Credit Union, coached little league baseball, ran the Boxing Club for years, and was involved with the Blossom Festival and when he was young he was involved in Rodeo. On top of that, he worked in plumbing and heating in the Creston Valley for thirty years.


Gordon loved to hunt and fish with his boys, pick huckleberries, loved painting and did some antler carving. He was an avid gardener and loved to sing when he got together with friends and sang in a western band when he was younger.


Gordon was predeceased by his parents Louisa (nee Kapler) and Lawrence John Lansing, sister Marion Rose (Lansing) Powell, brother Arthur Edward Lansing and baby Andrew Lansing.


He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Andree Gabrielle (Douville) Lansing, sisters Rita Mae Dickson, and Patricia Ann Amundson, brother Donald Louis Lansing, children Yvonne Louise Vigne, Karl Louis (Louise) Lansing, Brian Joseph (Wendy) Lansing, Adele Marie (Marc) Royer, Francis Lawrence (Charisse) Lansing, David Albert (Cathy) Lansing, as well as twenty one grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.


Funeral Services were held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church.

A Rosary was held on Sunday June 27, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.

A Memorial Mass was held on Monday June 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Francis dela Cruz celebrant.
