November 9, 1932 - March 11, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Allen Beachy announces his passing on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the age of 87 years. Glen will be lovingly remembered by Melba, his wife of 67 years, and his children Glenda (Howard) Graham, Diane (Garry) Meier, Jeanette (Kurt) Saffarek, and Craig (Colleen) Beachy. He was a loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and they will all miss him.
Glen Allen Beachy was born November 9, 1932 in Sheridan, Oregon. He was the twelfth of thirteen children born to Mary William Beachy. He grew up on a farm and completed his schooling at age 16 so he could manage the family farm as his father had health problems.
Glen first met Melba when he was only 6 years old and at the age of 13 decided she was "the one". Glen and Melba married Sept 6, 1952 in Sheridan. They soon left the farm and Glen went to work for the Oregon State Highways Department in Grande Ronde. They purchased a five acre lot with five cabins from which Glen built their first family home. During this time three daughters and a son were born.
He became a section foreman and moved the family to Idanha in the Cascade mountains. While on a vacation in Canada, they visited Smithers and Melba said she would be willing to follow his dream to move north if they would go there. They lived in Smithers from 1969-1977 where he started GA Beachy Excavating. Glen once again had adventure in mind and moved to Port Clements, Queen Charlotte Islands. He continued there with his excavating business until he retired. Glen and Melba settled in Creston in 2001.
A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Creston Baptist Church.
