Garry John Hunter

April 25, 1956 ~ November 29, 2012

Garry Hunter passed away unexpectedly on November 29, 2012 at the age of 56 years while visiting a friend in Edmonton, AB.

Garry was the fifth of six children in the family of Harold and Dorothy Hunter. His birth took place in High River Alberta in April 1956. He spent most of his young years in Lethbridge and moved to Creston about 30 or so years ago with a short time spent back in Lethbridge during those years.

Garry loved to fish and did many trips with his dad to the mountains of southwest Alberta when he was young. He was very close to his dad. When he moved to Creston where everything grew well he developed a real love for gardening. Garry was a carpenter in his younger years and somewhat of a perfectionist at that. He would also tinker with anything that wasn’t running. Doesn’t mean he got it running, but he loved to tinker. He also loved to read and just to be with his friends. Many of his friendships were long lasting friendships.

Garry was predeceased by his father Harold Hunter in 2007 and sister Sue (Ralph) Walters in 2005.

He is survived by four children; daughter Samantha (Damon) Postman of Nobleford, AB; sons John Hunter of Calgary and Russal (Sonya) Hunter of Lethbridge; daughter Jamie Hunter of Lethbridge, as well as grandchildren in Lethbridge and Nobleford; mother Dorothy Hunter of Creston; sister Avis (Paul) Nedza of Whispering Hills AB; brothers Bill and Ken of Creston and Kevin (Nancy) of Abbotsford BC as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 2:30 pm at Creston New Life Christian Church, 1821 Elm Street, Creston, BC with Pastor Gordon Lawrence officiating.

Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 - 1212 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC, V6H 3V2 or to the charity of your choice.
