Fred Bludoff passed away at his residence in Creston, B.C. at the age of 94 years.

Fred Bludoff was born in Langham, Saskatchewan. He worked as a carpenter, farmer, and in 1988 retired after 35 years from the Creston Co-op Packers as a receiver, shipper and forklift operator. He married Mildred Bludoff on December 1, 1946 in Passmore B.C. They resided on the family farm in Saskatchewan for two years.

Fred has two daughters: Ellen, born in 1947 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Linda born in 1952 in Creston, B.C. In 1948, they moved to a farm in Canyon, B.C. then in 1959 they built a house in Erickson, B.C. where they established a fruit and vegetable farm. Their next move was in 1971 to a new home on Scott Street in Creston. They relocated to their condo on Birch Street in Creston in 1993 where Fred remained until deteriorating health necessitated a move to Crest View Care Village on September 5, 2017 where he resided until his demise.

Fred was a member of USCC and Creston Doukhobor Society. Fred was also a part of one of the initial groups which built the prayer home in Erickson. He was a very active member, including singing in the choir and attending many festivals in Grand Forks and Brilliant. Fred was an avid horseshoe player, and competed in many B.C. Seniors' Games, winning numerous trophies and medals.

He also loved to curl. His pastimes were watching hockey, curling and baseball on TV. Fred enjoyed travelling and he and his wife took several bus tours to numerous places in the United States.

Fred was predeceased by his loving wife Mildred of 53 years; father Peter; mother Annie; brothers Johnny and Pete; sisters Hazel Schultz, Nellie Ewashen, and Susie Nemanishen; nephew Ed Nemanishen and niece Donna Norton.

He is survived by his daughters Ellen (Steve) Pennock, Cranbrook, B.C. and Linda (Charlie - deceased) Opper, Creston, B.C.; grandsons Darren (Stephanie) Opper, Creston, B.C., Larry Pennock, Kamloops, B.C., Derek (Kathy) Opper, Trail, B.C.; great-grandchildren Dustin Opper, Creston/Cranbrook, B.C., Daydren and Rylan Pennock, Kamloops, B.C., Brook-Lynn, Charlie and Wyatt Opper, Trail, B.C.; sister Anne (Alex) Semenoff, Okotoks, AB and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service was held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:00 pm at G.F. Oliver Funeral Chapel with Ron Semenoff of Calgary, AB Officiating.
