Franklin Albert Ducharme

December 23, 1934 ~ October 5, 2010

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Franklin Albert Ducharme on Tuesday October 5, 2010 in Fort Macleod, Alberta.

Frank was born in Glaslyn, SK, on December 23, 1934. Frank moved to Creston, BC, with his parents at the age of three. Frank was the eldest of six children born to Joe & Holly Ducharme. At fifteen he chose to leave home and traveled to Alberta in search of employment. Working a variety of jobs for four years, and then went into commercial truck driving for eleven years, first with Freightways and later Haliburton Oil Well Cementing, and finally as an independent owner/ operator.

Frank married Luella Davis of Fort Macleod in 1959. After this he secured a position with Greyhound beginning his eighteen years of driving for Greyhound Bus Lines. Following his many years of driving the highways of Western Canada, Frank then became an agent for Greyhound Bus Lines and owned and operated the legendary Java Shop in Fort Macleod for twenty years, ending with his much earned and long awaited retirement in 2004. Frank was active in Freemasons, Rotary, Golf Club and Curling Club.

He leaves behind his wife; children Ronda (Brian Reach), Kim (Irene), Todd (Deneen), Jason (Tammy), Darcee (Sai Wong), Jennifer (Pak Chang);as well as fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother Holly of Creston; brothers Lloyd (Jean), Fred (Yvonne), and Larry; brother-in-law Wayne (Pat).

He is predeceased by his father Placid (Joe), his sister Myrtle Kovacs, his brother Grant, and two grandsons Taylor and Lane Ducharme.

A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Christ Church Anglican, 320-21 St., Fort Macleod, Alberta, with Reverend Pilar Gateman, Officiating.
