November 18, 1931 - April 17, 2019
Harry and Ella Jones moved their family from Maple Creek, Saskatchewan in 1931 to Creston. The youngest of the family, Florence and her twin sister Louise, were born November 18, 1931 in Creston. Florence passed away peacefully April 17, 2019 at Crest View Care Village in Creston, BC.
Predeceased by her loving husband Graham in 2007; sisters Louise Sherwood, Joyce Plumb, Ena Faynor-Powell and Frances Watts; and brothers Maurice Jones and Les Jones.
Florence remained in Creston all her life. After finishing school, she took a trip to Alaska to visit family- this was a trip she always remembered fondly. She was employed in several occupations including a telephone operator and worked at Paul's Superette which was owned and operated by her sister and brother- in-law Paul and Ena Faynor.
Mom enjoyed square dancing with Dad until they had to quit because of Dad's deteriorating health. She kept up her bowling until last fall, always enjoying the spring trips to Osoyoos for senior bowling. Church was very important to her, always helping out as much as she could. She was an Elder in her church until she could no longer fulfill her obligations.
Mom's main focus was her family. She will be sadly missed by her son Leonard (Susanne); daughters Eileen (Hans) Peltzer and Janeen Messinger; grandchildren Kristofer (Heather) Peltzer, Melissa (Sheldon) Ross; Raina (Trevor), Amanda (Andrew), Ron (Kelly), David, Laura and Troy Messinger; great-grandchildren Kenzie, Avery and Kendall; Gabriel and Jerome, and many nieces and nephews.
A service was held on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 at 1:00 at the St. Stephens Presbyterian Church.
