January 27, 1927 - March 10, 2019
With sadness and celebration of a long and fulfilling life, we remember Florence Emily Beddoes who passed away peacefully March 10th, 2019 at the age of 92.

Florence (Flo) was born January 24, 1927 on the family farm at Anerley, Saskatchewan, the 4th of 6 children. She graduated from high school in Anerley and then moved to Saskatoon where she attended Normal School at the University of Saskatoon.

In the early 1950's, Flo and her sister Aletha moved to Vancouver where Flo worked as a florist and then as a dental assistant. It was in Vancouver where she met and married her lifelong partner Norman Beddoes. Flo and Norm were married December 6th, 1952 and last December marked their 66th wedding anniversary.

While living in the Vancouver area, Flo and Norm had four children; Bev, Eileen, Dianne and Ross. In May 1965 they moved to the Creston Valley purchasing the Valley View Motel, which they owned and operated for over 4 years. During the 1970's Flo worked at Gordie's Store and then at the Creston Valley Co-op in the housewares and china department. During the 1980's and 1990's, Flo and Norm put many miles on their camperized van and 5th wheel, travelling across Canada and the United States and north through the Yukon and Alaska. There were many camping and fishing trips with friends and family. A highlight of their travels was a 'bucket list' cruise which took them through the Panama Canal.

Flo was an excellent seamstress, cook and baker. These talents she has shared and passed onto her children.

Flo always had a large garden and our dinner table was always full of fresh or preserved produce from that garden. Flo's kitchen table was always a welcome place for family and friends.

Soon after their move to Creston, Flo and Norm joined the Creston Square Dance club, meeting and making life long friends. As recent as January, Flo attended a monthly lunch date with some of those friends. Through the years Flo participated in local curling bonspiels and walk-a-thons.

Flo had a great sense of humour and was always up for a good competitive game of cards and would never 'let' you win. She loved to wear her pearls and stay up all night to watch a Royal Wedding.

Flo and Norm were blessed with good health long into their elder years and were able to live in and maintain their own home until 2015 when they moved to their apartment at Crest View Village. Here they continued to enjoy their independence, social opportunities and visits with their growing family.

Flo and Norm's family started with four children and has grown to include many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several four legged 'fur babies'.

Our family would like to thank all of Flo's friends over the years, especially the 'lunch ladies', the staff and caregivers at Crest View Village, Interior Health Home Support Services, Creston Valley Hospital and the Swan Valley Lodge.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the: Swan Valley Lodge, Equipment Fund, 818 Vancouver St. Creston, BC V0B1G0
