June 26, 2018
Florence "Babs" Jones passed away on June 26, 2018 at 98 years of age.

Babs was born in Canyon, B.C., the second child of nine children born to Florence and Alfred Spencer. Babs married Maurice Jones in 1940 and together they raised five daughters and one son in Wynndel.

She was predeceased by her son, one grandson, three sisters, three brothers, and her parents.

She is survived by one sister, Rose; one brother, Anthony (Tony); her five daughters: Maurine, Lorraine, Marion, Deena (Mike), and Beverley; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; along with numerus nieces and nephews.

Babs lived a long, busy, well-lived life; poet, writer, artist, photographer, community volunteer, lover of nature, avid reader, fan of crossword puzzles (the difficult ones), athlete, outdoors woman and conqueror of the computer in her advanced years. She was a dedicated volunteer in the Girl Guides of Canada for over fifty years. She loved spending time at the Girl Guide Camp at Blue Point on Kootenay Lake. Camping with her there, though, was hardly a time of relaxation as she was constantly maintaining and improving the camp. Babs worked for a while for the federal government as a census taker and then as a Statistics Canada worker.

She threw herself, mind, body and soul into whatever endeavor she took on.
