Esther Valerie Walker went home to be with the Lord on November 10, 2017. She had been a resident of Crest View Care Village since May 2017.

Esther was born the second youngest child of George and Stepenida Vashuk at Spinney Hills, SK., having five brothers and four sisters. The family later moved to Meanook, AB where Esther attended school. As a young woman, she moved to Abbotsford, BC and attended the Western Pentecostal College.

Esther gained experience in retail sales and operated her own ladies' wear shop, Foundations and Maternity, in North Vancouver where she developed her passion for fashion.

Douglas Walker and Esther were married in 1967 and moved to Creston when Douglas graduated from the Simon Fraser University with a teaching degree. The Walkers have resided in the valley until the present time. In May they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Swan Valley Lodge where Douglas lives.

Esther was known for her ardent support of the SPCA and the local PAWS, and for adopting feral cats and feeding stray kittens.

Esther is predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings.

Esther leaves to grieve her loving husband Douglas, and to remember her, four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Creston Baptist Church, 2431 Ash St. Creston, BC.
