Ernie Leroux

April 5, 1924 ~ May 12, 2011


Ernie passed away with his family by his side on May 12, 2011 in the Nelson Hospital after at battle with cancer at the age of 87 years.

Ernie was born to parents Emma and George Leroux on April 5, 1924 in Wainwright, AB. He moved at an early age with his family to Royalties, AB.

He worked in the Turner Valley Oil Fields before and after he served with the Navy overseas.

Ernie moved to Creston in August 1954. He worked as an engineer at the hospital and was employed by Taks. Later on he formed a partnership in Western Plumbing and Heating with Hap Smith and Wes Hughes. The Columbia Brewery also employed him for many years.

He loved camping, playing cards, square dancing and social dancing. Ernie was a Charter member of the Elks Lodge and became the district deputy.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Hazel; daughters Linda (Grant) Romano, Sandi (Ed) Barton, Barb (Hanna); son Roger (Sigrid) Leroux; sisters Marie Mach, Jean (Maurice) Reshaug; brother Maurice (Marie) Leroux; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Ernie was predeceased by his parents Emma and George Leroux; sisters Stella, Helen and Lauretta; brothers Henry, Roger, George, Leonard and Richard.

In accordance with Ernie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
