Ernest Waldemar Richter

Ernest Waldemar Richter passed away on December 8, 2011 in Creston, BC at the age of 83 years.


Ernest was born to parents Fred and Lydia Richter on September 9, 1928 in Yellow Grass, SK. In 1951, he married the love of his life, Elsie Dreger.

He worked in the oil patch in Alberta until he returned to farming in 1958. Ernest was an active member in the Peace Lutheran Church Council and he was one of the founding shareholders of Weyburn Inland Terminal. He was also a member of various boards including the United Grain Growers, Conservation Development Authority and the Yellow Grass Rink Board and he coached hockey. Ernest and Elsie retired to Creston in 1986 and here he had various interests one being restoring tractors.

Ernest was predeceased by his parents Fred and Lydia Richter.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Elsie Richter; his children Gail (Rick) Murray, Neil (Donette) Richter, Gord (Megan) Richter; grandchildren Eric, Dean (Kim), Lindsay, Krista (Mike), Kimberly, Justin, Jessica, Megan and Kelly; six great-grandchildren Taryn, Rilyn, Jaden, Lawson, Jack and Leo; brothers and sisters Vic (May), Wilbur (Evelyn), Donelda Nicholas, Doris (Bill) Hill, Leonard (Sherry) and numerous nieces and nephews.


A Memorial Funeral Service will be held Friday December 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan with Pastor David Hanes officiating.
