Ernest Andrew Placsko

November 27, 1929 ~ May 30, 2010

Ernest Placsko was born in Wakaw, Saskatchewan, the last of four children born to Steve and Mary Placsko. He spent his first 13 years on the prairie where winters were harsh. On April 21, 1944 Ernie fell in love with the beautiful Creston Valley and the prairies became a distant memory. On January 27, 1951 Ernie married Helen Bodor, his lifelong dancing partner.

Machinery, mountains and the majestic outdoors were in his blood. Operating a grader, he maintained roads in the summer and plowed snow in the winter in Radium National Park, on Vancouver Island and the lower mainland, for the Town of Creston, Wynndel Box & Lumber and the Ministry of Forests. He travelled the world but maintained that the best place on earth was his Creston Valley.

Ernie is predeceased by his parents, Steve and Mary Placsko, and his only brother, Mike.

He is survived by his two older sisters, Kate Barr and Theresa Miller and his wife, Helen. Also left to mourn him are his beloved and devoted children that he cherished so much: Donna (Bill) Moore, Laurenda (Fred) Rebelato, Cameron, Kelly (Cathia), Andre (Linda), DeLaine, Lisa (Rob) Fairbrother, Tyson (Chrystal). He is also survived by six grandchildren; Jennifer, Shandi, Shaun, Candas, Kaitlyn and Christina: six nieces and nephews; Ruth, Veronica, Mervyn, Donald, Darlene and Rocky; great-grandchildren and numerous great nieces and nephews.

His memorial service will be held Saturday June 5, 2010 at 1:00pm at the Seniors Citizens Hall, 810 Canyon Street, Creston. Please join us, everyone is welcome.
