Ellen Patricia Samuelson (nee Fricke) passed away suddenly on August 2, 2021, at Sanca, BC at the age of 63 years.
Ellen was born on February 25, 1958, at Calgary, AB to parents Gerhard and Brunhilde Fricke. The family moved to the Creston Valley when Ellen was three years old and settled in Lister, BC. Ellen was always a people person, at age 10, Ellen joined the Lister 4H club, played hockey, won the public speaking trophy in Trail and went on to the PNE in Vancouver to do modelling.
She brought home ribbons for her efforts. Ellen attended Lister Elementary School and was a graduate of Prince Charles Secondary (PCSS) in 1976. It was at PCSS in grade 11 where she met her future husband, Randy. After graduating from high school, Ellen attended college in Lethbridge, taking courses in Business Management.
Ellen opened Summit Music in 1962 where locals could go and purchase vinyl, cassettes and eventually cd's. In 1982, she purchased her first home and joined Randy in another business venture, Drapes To Floor You which is now known as NuFloors. This is what she loved to do, with pride and joy for 35 years.
Ellen married Randy on October 11, 1987, and they welcomed the arrival of their son Leelen in September of 1993. Ellen was able to continue helping Randy in the business as she also took on the role of Mom in raising their son. Ellen instilled her love of dogs and real estate in Leelen and was his biggest fan of his passion and skill for Judo.
Ellen had many hobbies, some of which included curling, cribbage playing, yoga, and was a fair-weather fisher and boater. She was also very active in the community, volunteering her time to the Curling Club, Judo Club, the Aquatic Society, and many other local events. When Ellen wasn't busy working and volunteering, she loved to travel.
Ellen was predeceased by her father Gerhard Fricke and brother Garry Fricke.
Ellen will be lovingly remembered by her husband Randy, son Leelen (Devon), mother Hilde Fricke, brother Andy (Noreen) Fricke, in-laws Aron (Helen) Samuelson, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
