Ella May Marshall (nee Frolak)

October 25, 1929 ~ November 10, 2013

Ella passed away peacefully in the early morning of November 10, 2013, surrounded by the love of her family, and the wonderful care workers of Swan Valley Lodge.

Ella was born in Lethbridge, Alberta and spent her childhood in Hillcrest, Creston, Pincher Creek and Coleman. Ella attended Henderson Secretarial School in Calgary, returning to Creston in 1947, where she worked as a secretary at the Creston Packing Shed and then as clerk at the Government Agent Office. She worked there until she met and married her husband of 57 years, Bob Marshall. Ella was a loving wife, devoted mother to Sharlene, Debbie and Dale, and a very special grandmother to Caylee, Erin, Ryan, Ian, Lauren and Jack.

Ella enjoyed and participated in many activities over the years: curling, bowling, bingo, card parties, and the trips to Reno. Ella’s favourite pastimes were camping, searching for antique bottles in the Creston area, especially “Back of Yahk,” but mostly spending time with her family.

Ella enjoyed the arrival of the bluebirds and the first wildflowers in the spring, especially the Lady Slippers on Mother’s Day.

She will be remembered for her spiciness and her great sense of humour.

Left to honour this wonderful lady are her husband Bob Marshall (and extended family), children and grandchildren: Sharlene (Gary) Stewart, Caylee and Ryan; Debbie (Rick) Tomaszewski, Erin (Ben) Ryland, and Ian; Dale (Alison) Marshall, Lauren and Jack; and her sister Mary Buckna (and extended family).

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the friends and family that visited Ella. Also, a special thanks to the Creston Valley Hospital and to the staff of Purcell Pod at Swan Valley Lodge.

At Ella’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, those that wish to do so may donate to the Swan Valley Lodge, the Children’s Hospital or a charity of their choice.
