Elizabeth (Betty) Wilson

October 1, 1928 ~ May 3, 2016

Elizabeth (Betty) Wilson, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2016, at the Moog and Friends Hospice House in Penticton, B.C.

Elizabeth, was born October 1, 1928 in Wigan, Lancashire, to William and Mary-Anne Platt; she would be one of ten children. On April 16, 1949, she married Cyril Andrew Healey, in Culcheth, Cheshire, England. They started their family in England with Christine, Kenny and Susie, but left England with their small family, arriving in New York on the M.V. Britannic, on November 30, 1952. They settled in Castlegar, BC in 1953, and started 1954 off with Kathleen their third daughter followed by Brenda, Patricia, Andrew, Janet, Joyce and Elaine. The family moved to Wynndel, BC in 1977. Cyril passed away in August, 1978. Elizabeth, now a single mother with four teenagers still in the house, was challenged with a new life... and she did it.

Elizabeth, married Earl Wilson on July 5, 1986, in Creston, BC. After leaving Creston, they spent time living in Crawford Bay, Oliver and Penticton. Elizabeth and Earl had many years together, enjoying their life travelling to warm winter destinations, and then winters in Arizona, dancing and golfing. Elizabeth and Earl have lived at the Charles Manor in Penticton for the past six years. They have felt safe and supported within this community, while enjoying the freedom to take long walks on the beach. Music made our mother happy; she loved her piano which she played every day until she could no longer. She loved to dance and claimed that is how she picked both her husbands, they were both good dancers.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband Earl Wilson, ten children and their spouses, twenty-one grandchildren, and over thirty great-grandchildren.

She will be loved and missed in many hearts.
