May 9, 1933 - April 4, 2025
Edna was born in Calgary on May 9, 1933, the second eldest of 4 siblings who have all predeceased her. She was also predeceased by the love of her life Barry GL Jeffery in 2013.
Edna and Barry lived in Calgary where they raised three sons: Gordon (Pat), Mike (Ivy), and Paul (Darlene). Edna was a wonderful Nana to her 4 grandchildren and Nana-Nana to her great-grandchildren.
She and Barry spent summers camping at Sanca Park Campground and built their dream home on the shore of Kootenay Lake in 1977. They fully enjoyed their long retirement travelling and enjoying the property in Sanca before moving to Creston in 1990. Mom was active in the United Church, The Blossom Valley Singers Choir, teaching Tai-Chi and was a vital part of the community.
Edna was a homemaker: a master knitter; a seamstress, making wonderful sweaters and dresses for her grandkids. She loved to work with her hands doing anything crafty. Barry and Edna spent many weekends selling their wares at craft markets. She would bake the most fabulous cookies and pies often giving them away or sharing with church family and friends.
Edna was so proud of the three boys "Do you know they are all Firefights and all married Nurses?" She would ask every time she met someone new. She also liked to have people guess her current age as she looked about 25 years younger than her peers! Perhaps that was partly due to her walking at least 3km every day stopping to chat with old and new friends along her way.
Edna lived a life surrounded by the love of Barry, her three boys and their spouses and children. We were her center and she wanted to be kept up to date about her family whether they were competing in a sporting event or moving to Australia to start their own lives, Edna wanted to be a part of it all.
Those that knew Edna were a part of her big circle of friends.
We would like to thank Dr. Chang and the fabulous care received by the Creston Care Givers team who went above and beyond to help her stay in her own home as long as possible.
The family would also like to thank the Dr Jantz and the excellent care and comfort given mom by the staff of Mountain Lakes Senior Center in Nelson where Edna lived out her last few months.
Mom lived her life to the very best, she enjoyed every day and always found something good about each and every day and every person she touched along her journey was blessed.
Family service to be held at a later date.
Donations could be made to the charity of your choice in remembrance of Edna.
Rest In Peace Mom
