Douglas Keith Shannon

July 29, 1932 ~ July 10, 2010

Douglas Keith Shannon passed away after a lengthy illness on July 2, 2010 in Creston, BC at the age of 77 years.


Doug was born on July 29, 1932 in Bawlf, Alberta. He and Florence Gilson were married on April 28, 1956 in Edmonton, Alberta.


He had a variety of careers including a geophysical shooter, City of Edmonton police officer, volunteer firefighter and DOT inspector before settling on a final career in welding. Once he completed his welding certification in Dawson Creek, BC he moved his family to Creston in April 1971.


After a long career away from home and after a brief time with the Erickson Improvement District, he retired and happily settled into a quiet life with Florence. He pursed his passion for woodworking, carpentry and furniture making and shared his passion with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening and landscaping and was always willing to lend a helping hand or shoulder to lean on.


Doug was predeceased by his son Terry in 2006.


He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Florence, daughters Lanis (Terry) Lamont and Tracy (Pat) Bryans, grandchildren Jennilyn, Taradawn and Corey Shannon, Kyle, Jason and Brady Lamont, Stacie ( Creighton) Wright and Jesse Bryans, two brothers and a sister and their families.


A private family Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
