Donald William Fraser

Donald William Fraser passed away February 24, 2012, in Victoria, BC.
Don was born in Creston, BC on January 14, 1948, where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Prince Charles High School in 1966 and received a BA from Simon Fraser University in 1977.
Don had a compassionate heart for people, and worked in many environments to help whomever he met. He worked for Canada Customs and Immigration in Rykerts, Roosville and Osoyoos. During his years in the Creston area, he was a salesman for Kokanee Ford, worked for the Kootenay Advertiser and owned and operated a deli on Main Street. For several years in Vancouver, Don was a counselor-trainer for patients recovering from brain injuries. He established and directed the Sunshine Coast Recovery Center in Sechelt, where he developed an HIV/AIDS education program. The program became a model plan for the province.
When he moved to Victoria to enjoy life in the city, Don worked part-time as a cab driver for Victoria Taxi. Don always had a passion for cooking and he attended culinary school in Nanaimo. He enjoyed entertaining and cooking for his friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William Norman and Mildred Fraser of Creston, an infant brother, and his niece, Melissa Jones.
He is survived by his sister Marion (John) Bailey of Bozeman, MT, his nephew Michael (Kim) Jones, great niece Michaela, and his great nephew Tyler, all of Poulsbo, WA.
A Celebration of Don's life was held in Victoria, BC on March 4, 2012.
