Donald Ross Allan "Ol' Pokey" Maitland passed away on April 22, 2022, in Creston, BC at the age of 78 years.
Donald was born on January 7, 1944, in Rossland, BC to parents Robert and Ellie Maitland. While living in Terrace, he drove truck for Lindsays Trucking, hauling groceries and mail to the north, as far as Dease Lake. Donald was also known as Ol' Pokey as that was his radio handle. He made a video for his boss, filmed by helicopter, which can be viewed on YouTube, called "Pokeys Run".
Donald was predeceased by his wife Colleen Ballinger in 2008.
Donald will be lovingly remembered by his wife Bea Reichert, sons Toby (Holly) Reichert, Shane (Tiffany) of Spokane, WA, grandsons Colton and Trent, granddaughter Madelyn, two great grandsons and 2 boys from his wife's first marriage. He was loved by friends, relatives, and many who enjoyed his jokes and stories.
Donald was a rare soul, always placing others first.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
