Donald George Jones

February 14, 1933 ~ December 7, 2010

The family of Donald George Jones regretfully announces his death, at age 77, on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Creston, BC, following a relatively short battle with cancer.

Born in Vancouver, BC on February 14, 1933, Don grew up in Richmond, BC. In June, 1950, he joined his brother, Trevor, at the Guichon ranch in Quilchena, BC, where he worked for the next 5 ½ years.

Following that, Don took a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic’s course in Edmonton, starting in September, 1955. He worked in the Yukon, Gulf Islands and Prince George. Visiting his brother, who by then worked in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Don met Janet Moen, and married on November 5, 1960. They lived in Prince George, becoming parents to daughter Beverly and son Douglas. The family moved in 1966 to Fairview, Alberta, and in 1970 to Grande Prairie where Don and Janet resided until 2003. They then retired to Creston, BC.

Don is survived by his wife, Janet, of Creston, daughter Beverly (Scott) Grimshaw, son Douglas Jones (Fiona Richards), granddaughter Chelsea and grandson Zeke, all of Nelson, BC; brother Trevor (Joyce) Jones of Fairview, AB; sister Elsie Shaw of Qualicum Beach, BC; mother-in-law Anna Moen of Bad Heart, AB; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and numerous other relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Elsie Jones; brothers: Arnold, Sheldon, Robert, Bill; and sister Katherine.

At Don’s request, his ashes will be scattered at the ranch in Quilchena, amongst the bull pines, crickets and sagebrush, where it is quiet and beautiful.

No formal service will take place.

The family wishes to thank everyone who has given us support in so many ways at this very sad time.
