David Lloyd Lind

July 11, 1971 ~ October 5, 2016

David passed away peacefully at Creston Valley Hospital on October 5, 2016 at the age of 45 years.

David was born and educated in Creston. He was one of the original Beavers when the group formed in Creston and continued on through Cubs and Scouts. Growing up Dave participated in baseball, hockey, curling and golf but his passion was for the outdoors from an early age. He and a friend took and passed a trapper's course but never got a trap line. Extremely knowledgeable about firearms, bows and wildlife, he was an excellent marksman despite having lost the vision in his left eye at ten years old. He was never happier than when he was hunting or fishing, especially at Lake Ponderay with his lifetime friend Dean. When good-paying jobs were hard to find in Creston he moved to Fort St. John where his brother lived. Dave was so proud when he was promoted to sales manager at Baron Oil in Fort St. John. His brother said he learned all he knew about hunting from David. They hunted together every chance they got.

When David's health deteriorated and he was diagnosed with MS he returned to Creston to be near his parents and friends. One of the things he regretted most was that he wouldn't be able to teach his 11-year old nephew Chance how to hunt. The type of MS he had was extremely aggressive and he was soon confined to a wheelchair. No longer able to do the outdoor activities that gave him such joy, his life became an emotional and physical struggle. After a 3-year battle with MS David is now at peace.

David is survived by his mother Ann and father Lloyd; brother Cory; nephew Chance; little buddy Bear, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

At David's request there was no funeral service after cremation, but a Celebration of Life will be held next summer on David's birthday on July 11, 2017; details to be shared at a later date.

A special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Klienhan and the wonderful nurses in the hospice ward of Creston Valley Hospital for their compassionate care of our son David and hugs and words of support for his parents. A special thanks to Dave's uncle Ron who drove here from Burnaby to support David's parents as they sat at David's bedside. Thank you also to Dave's friends who came to give us support and to say a final goodbye to him at the hospital. He always said he had GOOD friends; the kind who would always be there when you needed them. Thanks also to those who sent and brought food, flowers and cards and for all the comforting supporting visits from those whose lives had been touched by David.
