August 23, 1952 - March 29, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dan Geurts on March 29, 2022, in Creston, British Columbia at the age of 69 years.
Dan was born August 23, 1952, to parents Mary and Marcel Geurts in Atikokan, Ontario, second oldest in their family of eight children. Dan was a devoted family man, a gifted wood and metal worker, an avid golfer, and a passionate advocate of the things he believed in. He certainly enjoyed a good debate!
After a brief stint in the mines of Thompson, Manitoba, Dan joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1971 where he trained as a machinist. His last posting was at CFB Namao where he met and married Carol in 1974. In 1975, he joined the RCMP, the start of a long career he dearly loved. The ensuing years saw many moves throughout the province, and an accumulation of friendships that lasts to this day. Dan retired in 1998, devoting his time to another love - golfing. Frequent trips to try out new courses kept him busy until the final move to Creston in 2010 where he spent the next six years completing all the carpentry and finishing details of their new home. Dan was accomplished at whatever he set his hand to, and carpentry was no exception. He also excelled at being a grandpa and was able to spend the last 10 years being close to and spoiling the two youngest. He loved nothing more than family get-togethers and there were many!
Dan was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Marcel Geurts, brother Dave and sister-in-law Linda.
Dan is survived by his wife Carol Geurts, children George (Kalee), Tim (Theresa) and Danica, grandchildren James, Kyle, James Dawson, and Abigail, as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will be no service as per Dan's wishes.
